Metapan (2-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fifth ranked Santa Tecla on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Santa Tecla 85-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Metapan. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American swingman Andravious Smith (198-1995, college: Tougaloo) fired a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Edgar Contreras (179-2001) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) produced a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds for lost side. Defending champion (2-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with A.Lobos. Metapan at the other side keeps the third position with one game lost. Santa Tecla is looking forward to face Brujos (#9) in Izalco in the next round where they are favorite. Metapan will play at home against Santa Ana (#7) and is hoping to win this game.

Alejandro Barahona contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Lee Vasquez (176-1991) replied with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for Santa Ana. San Salvador have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Salvadorenos. Santa Ana at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Cojute and Fantasmas. In the last two games of round 4 A.Lobos defeated Santiagueno in a road game 86-81. Fantasmas beat Brujos at home 75-68.

Salvadorenos forced 26 Cojute turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 32 on the defensive glass. A.Lobos shot 21 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Santiagueno only scored five points from the stripe. A.Lobos forced 21 Santiagueno turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Guatemalan point guard David Vasquez (-1992, college: Umpqua CC) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 assists and 5 steals and Venezuelan-Colombian center Michael Hinestroza (210-1990, college: UALR) who added 7 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. This time Fantasmas used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Izalco 75-68 on Saturday night. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Darius Daniels (178-1997) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import Nick Moore (198-1991, college: Alliance) who added 12 points and 18 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side center Teodoro Romero (202-1985) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 24 rebounds and Julio Crespin (184-1997) scored 10 points and 4 assists. Brujos' coach Anibal Mendez rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Fantasmas (1-2) left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with Santa Ana and Cojute. It was Brujos' third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Santiagueno. Fantasmas will meet higher ranked Metapan (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Brujos will play against Santa Tecla (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
